Southern New Jersey Development Council Celebrates Sixty Years at Annual Reception

In early October, the Southern New Jersey Development Council's Annual Reception marked the Diamond (60th) Anniversary of the founding of the Development Council. The theme of the reception was "Economic Development Throughout The Years", with photographs and sketches of SNJDC members' economic development projects being showcased throughout the reception.  

Honorable John Burzichelli, New Jersey Assembly (D-3), kicked off the reception as master of ceremonies with introductory remarks and recognition of the Development Council's regional impact. Honorable Louis Cappelli, Freeholder Director, of the Camden County Freeholder Board, along with Assemblyman Burzichelli, presented awards to the "founding members" of the SNJDC during the program. 

In 1951, there were eleven companies that formed the Southern New Jersey Development Council. These members were honored for their longstanding support of the organization, along with program recognition and a beautiful glass-etched keepsake recognizing their sixty years of dedication to the Development Council. The founding members are: Atlantic City Convention & Visitors Authority, Atlantic City Electric, Atlantic County, Cape May County, Cumberland County, Gloucester County, PSE&G, Salem County, South Jersey Gas, South Jersey Port Corporation and Verizon. The commitment and service by the founding members of the SNJDC is immeasurable, but the positive economic impact each brings to this region speaks volumes of the Council's progress.

The evening's closing remarks were presented by Jeff DuBois, SNJDC Chairman, and COO of South Jersey Gas. The SNJDC Chairman highlighted the impact of the Development Council throughout the years, along with future objectives and goals.
